Celebration

Monday was my mother's 90th birthday. Here she is with Emma as they exchange Easter "cards". The egg mom is holding was painted by Em.
Our princess was adorable in her fancy dress, but as one can see she's still working on that whole "ladylike" thing. We had a fun celebration of both Easter and mom's b-day, with our whole family (including our 95yr old aunt) gathering at my house for dinner.

Easter

The joy of the Easter season is here. Emma had fun painting the eggs shown in the small bowl below. Of course now she thinks we should have eggs to paint everytime she comes to visit!
A few years ago I painted the eggs in the large bunny pedestal. I surprised myself with a couple of the creations!.....not sure my hand would be that steady any more!
These Fitz and Floyd bunnies are pretty much "regulars" on the living room mantle - just added a few dyed, but yet to be painted eggs ..... They've yet to be painted for at least 2 yrs now!
May all of us remember that Christ is the reason we celebrate this time of year! He came and taught us how to live, died for our sins and was resurrected. We are all blessed!
This year our family will also be celebrating my mother's 90th birthday, which is the day after Easter. We are doubly blessed!! She personally can't quite get over the idea that she will be 90.
Happy Birthday Mom!

Recovers

Much as I enjoyed my floral patterned couches (the pattern is on the 2 pillows below on the sofa), after finding the botanical prints at the rummage sale at our church, I decided a toning down of the couches was in order. I was swimming in floral! I ordered a couple slip covers from Surefit and presto an instant calming of the room. Guri is in her following her owner around mode, so she too got in the photo....
Just so you know Sue - the botanical prints you gave me now have a new home, which I will try to remember to display another time!
This older silverware box was painted by Jan, one of the sweet caretakers at my mom's assisted living home. What a talent she has! She had brought many of her pieces of art to display and I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase this one. I added to the vinette one of my mom's bird statues I now have in my home and a nest from Chloe's.
